Pats show fighting spirit in goal-fest

St. Pats gave lowly Galway a two goal start before blowing them away at Richmond Park with a stunning comeback.

Shane Keogh gave Galway the perfect start when flicking home Brain Cash's cross for the lead on nine minutes.

It got better for Sean Connor's side ten minutes later when Alan Murphy rifled home a penalty after Paul Crowley had handled his initial shot.

But St. Pats hit back five minutes later with Daryl Kavanagh racing onto league debutant left-back Jake Carroll's ball over the top to shoot beyond Greg Fleming.

Paul Crowley equalised with a glancing header from skipper Stephen Bradley's free-kick six minutes before half-time.

St. Pat's were rampant now and they didn't let up into the second half with central defender Evan McMillan heading home from Anto Murphy's long throw for their lead goal on 59 minutes.

Five minutes later Derek Doyle followed up to crash the ball to the net after Danny North's shot came back off a post.

The hardworking North then got the fifth goal two minutes later, shooting home after Galway failed to clear.

Galway had defender Shaun Kelly sent off for a second booking 12 minutes from time.
