Bankruptcy moves against former England football star Paul Gascoigne have been put on hold again until next month.

Gascoigne, 43, who owes the taxman £32,000 (35,900), is fighting a bankruptcy petition brought by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

At a brief hearing at the High Court in London today Deputy District Judge Holmes-Milner adjourned the petition until May 25.

At a previous hearing the court heard that a proposal had been put forward by Gascoigne which would allow him to pay off the full debt to HMRC within a structured timescale.

The adjournment was granted while that proposal is being dealt with at Bournemouth County Court.

Gascoigne was not present for the proceedings.
