Kirby brace sinks Pat's

Alan Kirby hit a double against one of his former clubs this evening to move Sligo Rovers level on points at the top of the table with champions Shamrock Rovers.

Saints' keeper Gary Rogers kept his side in the game in the first half with a terrific double save from Eoin Doyle and then Matt Blinkhorn.

But midfielder Kirby broke the deadlock on 64 minutes with a neat finish from just inside the box after good approach play by Richie Ryan and Aaron Greene.

Kirby then doubled the lead to seal the win eight minutes later.

Blinkhorn worked the opening this time and once again Kirby finished with aplomb past Rogers.
