Gary Twigg helped himself to a brace as the champions maintained their unbeaten start to the season to stay three points clear at the top of the table.

Michael O'Neill's side dominated from start to finish with Twigg, the topscorer in the country over the last two year, putting them ahead on 28 minutes when heading Billy Dennehy's cross past keeper David Quirke.

The young Drogheda keeper was beaten again four minutes into the second half. Gary McCabe and Dennehy rattled the home side's woodwork in turn before Ciaran Kilduff shot home the rebound.

Twigg then tapped in his second of the game six minutes later after skipper Dan Murray knocked down Dennehy's corner.

Dennehy got Rovers' fourth goal on 73 minutes after good approach play by full-back Pat Sullivan.
