Olsson apologises over Stoke incident

West Brom defender Jonas Olsson has apologised for his moment of rage at Stoke on Monday.

West Brom defender Jonas Olsson has apologised for his moment of rage at Stoke on Monday.

Olsson has admitted to clashing with Stoke striker Ricardo Fuller in the tunnel at the Britannia Stadium following a 1-1 draw.

It resulted in the Swede lashing out with his arm and breaking a glass case that contained a picture of an old Stoke team.

He has now promised to pay for the damage.

“They thought it showed a lack of respect on my part, which I understand completely,” Olsson told Swedish newspaper Expressen.

“I apologised immediately and I do accept it was unnecessary on my part.

“All I can say is it was probably better to hit the wall than an opponent, but really that does not excuse it.

“It was nothing too serious, but damage was caused and I am going to pay for that myself.”
