Del Bosque demands 'maximum' from friendly squad
Spain coach Vicente del Bosque has named a 21-man squad for next Wednesday’s friendly with Colombia in Madrid.
Del Bosque has warned every player to be prepared to play the full 90 minutes, despite a request from Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho not to overload the players.
Del Bosque told reporters. “We care for everyone in whatever we can, but we will demand the maximum.
“I’ve called up a few that are doing well, players who are playing a big role. But everyone is playing well, so we want them aware of how difficult it is to be in this team.”
“Colombia are a good team, almost all their players play in European leagues, and are a team that is well established.”
Four England-based players are in the squad, including Chelsea’s new £50m striker Fernando Torres.
Squad: Casillas (Real Madrid), Reina (Liverpool), Valdes (Barcelona); Arbeloa (Real Madrid), Albiol (Real Madrid), Ramos (Real Madrid), Pique (Barcelona), Marchena (Villarreal), Capdevila (Villarreal); Alonso (Real Madrid), Busquets (Barcelona), Cazorla (Villarreal), Iniesta (Barcelona), Xavi (Barcelona), Fabregas (Arsenal), Pedro (Barcelona); Villa (Barcelona), Silva (Man City), Llorente (Athletic Bilbao), Torres (Chelsea), Navas (Sevilla).
