Players' chief defends Premier League wages

Players’ chief Gordon Taylor insists footballers’ wages have not spiralled out of control and claims a salary cap would be impractical in the Premier League.

In the week of the 50th anniversary of the maximum wage being scrapped, Taylor admits that the top players’ pay is in some cases 100 times higher in real terms than their equivalents’ salaries half a century ago.
