Ireland reported to be mulling Republic of Ireland return

Stephen Ireland is believed to be considering a return to the Republic of Ireland squad.

The former Manchester City midfielder may first have to apologise to manager Giovanni Trapattoni after labeling him "arrogant".

The 24 -year-old's career has stalled since moving to Aston Villa from Manchester City and rumours have linked the Cobh native to Liverpool in recent weeks.

His last match in an Irish jersey was against Slovakia in September 2007, after which he left the squad in bizarre circumstances.
