Inter beaten as Tottenham top group

Tottenham qualified for the last 16 as Group A winners in their maiden Champions League season after a typically high-scoring draw was coupled with a surprise 3-0 defeat for holders Inter Milan.

Tottenham, whose three goals came courtesy of a freak Peter Wisgerhof own goal and two from England striker Jermain Defoe on his first start in the competition, closed with 11 points as well as 18 goals.
