Eto’o banned for headbutt
Inter Milan striker Samuel Eto’o has been banned for three games following his headbutt on Chievo defender Bostjan Cesar on Sunday.
The Cameroon international thrust his head into Cesar’s chest in retaliation to a sly punch from the centre-back seven minutes before half-time of the Serie A clash in Verona.
Inter went on to lose the game 2-1 to place more pressure on coach Rafael Benitez.
Eto'o was also handed a fine of €30,000 over the incident, which was missed by the referee at the time. He has the right to appeal.
The suspension is a blow for Inter, who are nine points adrift of leaders AC Milan, depriving them of their top scorer who has netted nine goals in Serie A.
Inter host Parma on Sunday before travelling to Rome to face Lazio on December 3.
