Bolton chairman Phil Gartside has called for limits on Premier League players’ wages and admitted the club may be forced to sell Gary Cahill and Johan Elmander to balance the books.

The club’s losses have more than doubled to £35.4m (€41.5m), with their debt rising from £64m (€75m) to £93m (€109m), and Gartside said England defender Cahill may be sold in the January transfer window if they receive an offer in excess of £15m.
