Bohs rocked by rampant Galway

Galway United 3 Bohemians 2

Former Gypsies boss Sean Connor came back to haunt Bohemians as his lowly, and well below strength, Galway stunned the champions at Terryland Park.

This defeat, their third to Galway this season, means Bohs have slipped two points behind arch-rivals Shamrock Rovers in the title race with just one game to play.

Galway silenced the big Bohs following when Derek O'Brien slotted home a penalty on 11 minutes after man-of-the-match Jason Molloy was taken down by Ken Oman.

Paul Keegan headed home skipper Owen Heary's cross to put Bohs level on 25 minutes.

But in a hectic few minutes before the break, the sides swapped goals.

First Molloy restored Galway's lead on 44 minutes when beating Brian Shelley in the race to Gary Curran's long ball over the top to toe it past substitute keeper Chris O'Connor.

But a minute into added time, Jason Byrne blasted home a penalty after Tom King tripped Mark Quigley.

Bohs battled to get the lead throughout the second half but were beaten by an 89th minute strike.

Seamus Conneely did superbly to put Molloy in on the right and he cut past Oman to drill home at the near post.
