Saints and Hoops square up in Cup replay

St Patrick’s Athletic v Shamrock Rovers

St Patrick’s Athletic and Shamrock Rovers go head to head for the second time in three days for a place in this year’s FAI Ford Cup final.

For Saints, Dave Mulcahy took a knock to his knee and fellow midfielder David McAllister picked up a thigh injury in Sunday’s game so both are concerns for manager Pete Mahon.

Damien Lynch returns to the squad after missing Sunday’s game in Tallaght due to suspension.

St Pat’s boss Mahon said: “As the home side there will now be a bit more expectation and pressure on ourselves.

“I thought we played well (on Sunday) especially after the first half hour and if we can play as we did in the second half then we’ve every chance of making it through.”

Rovers have doubts about the availability of Stephen Rice (knee), James Chambers (ankle), Tommy Stewart (ankle), Chris Turner (knee) and Pat Flynn (hamstring), who all picked up injuries in Sunday’s game.

Danny Murphy and Craig Sives come back into the squad after serving suspensions.

Dan Murray, Sean O’Connor and Pat Sullivan (all knees) remain out.

Hoops boss Michael O’Neill said: “We’re disappointed that the tie has gone to a replay, as we felt we should have won. But I have great faith in the lads, I know they can get the win on Tuesday night.

“We also have a good record at Richmond Park. We won the two games we played there this season. It will be a tough game, but we will be going there confident that we can get the win.”

Kick-off at Richmond Park is at 7.45pm.
