Maher a doubt for Sporting
Sporting Fingal v Galway United
Sporting Fingal will get closer to European qualification with victory over Galway United at Morton Stadium tonight, kick-off 7.45pm.
Shaun Maher is a major doubt for Sporting as he is struggling with a hamstring strain.
Captain Shaun Williams is ruled out with a one-match suspension, while Eamon Zayed returns from international duty with Libya to bolster Liam Buckley’s attacking options.
Buckley said: “Three games from the finish, we’re still in with a decent shout of Europa League qualification. It’s all nine points we’re aiming for to give the best possible chance of landing one of those spots.
“Games against Galway United this season have been as close as they come and I’m expecting Sean Connor’s side to be at their usual competitive best on Friday.
“Confidence is high in our camp and having scored two or more goals in seven of our last eight league matches, we’ll want to continue the recent vein of form.”
Galway are almost certain to be playing in the eighth and ninth place play-off but still have an outside chance of avoiding it with three wins from their last three games.
United will, once again, will be without Barry Ryan for their trip to Santry as the keeper is serving the second of his two-match ban.
Otherwise, manager Sean Connor has a fully fit squad available.
