Late Keane penalty breaks Bray hearts

Sligo Rovers 2 Bray Wanderers 1

Sligo Rovers 2 Bray Wanderers 1

A last minute Alan Keane penalty broke Bray hearts as the away side finished with 10 men at the Showgrounds.

Bray weathered the early Sligo storm with Dean Zambra racing through onto Danny O’Connor’s pass to shoot off a post on 38 minutes.

Wanderers then stunned the home crowd to take the lead on 70 minutes when Gary Dempsey’s free-kick dipped over the wall and beat keeper John Gibson.

But the lead lasted just five minutes. Ex-Bray winger Gary McCabe put over a superb cross and Matt Blinkhorn headed home.

The real drama then arrived right in the 90th minute when Bray defender Dave Webster gave away a penalty and was sent off.

Defender Keane held his nerve to shoot home from the spot and seal the points for Rovers.
