Drogheda United will be desperate for a victory in their battle to avoid the drop when they take on Sporting Fingal at Hunky Dorys Park, kick-off 7.45pm.

United will be without the suspended trio of Eric McGill, Corrie Treacy and Ryan Brennan, while Connor Sinnott is struggling to be fit so remains a doubt.

Brendan McGill remains out injured but could return over the next few weeks.

Assistant boss Darius Kierans said: “It is possibly the biggest game of our season so far. I’ve said to the lads we have six games left and we have to treat them as if they were cup finals.

“We still believe that we can stay up but we can’t rely on other results. We have to take things into our own hands. The lads have been training well and are still working hard.”

Sporting will be without the suspended duo of Shane McFaul and John Frost for the Drogheda clash.

Shaun Maher and Shane McFaul (both ankle) along with Colm James (knee) are rated doubtful and will have pre-match fitness tests.

Sporting boss Liam Buckley said: “We’ve played quite well for long spells of recent games but need to be doing that for the ninety minutes.

“The players realise that themselves and if they perform to the level I know they’re capable of, we’ll give Drogheda a good game.”
