Three-game schedule hitting Bray match fitness
Bray Wanderers take on Dundalk in tonight’s Airtricity League Premier Division clash at the Carlisle Grounds, kick-off 7.45pm.
Danny O'Connor (ankle), Jake Kelly (hamstring), Gary Shaw (knee) and Gary Dempsey (hamstring) are all doubtful for Bray.
Director of Football Pat Devlin believes that three games in a week is too much for a young part-time side.
He said: "I couldn't fault the effort of the team but three games in a week is just a step too far.
"It will be a very tough game but it is a very important game for us. I would like to be playing it when we were a bit fresher but we will give it everything we have and just hope we get the little breaks.”
Dundalk should be the fresher of the two sides after having the weekend off due to the FAI Cup quarter-finals.
And Ian Foster’s side will go into the game full of confidence following their 5-1 demolition of Shamrock Rovers last Monday night at Oriel Park.
The Lilywhites will, however, be conscious of their defensive frailties having now gone 21 games without a clean sheet.
Midfielder Alan Cawley will not be available to face his former club as he is still out with a back injury.
Otherwise, Dundalk have a strong squad available going into the Bray fixture.
