McFaul and O’Brien due back for Fingal
Cup holders Sporting Fingal travel to Richmond Park to take on St Patrick’s Athletic for a place in the semi-final of the FAI Ford Cup, kick-off 1pm.
Shane McFaul and Ger O’Brien should return to the Fingal squad after recovering from injuries. Ankle injuries sidelined the duo for the past three matches but the pair resumed training this week and should be available.
Shaun Maher has also been suffering with an ankle knock which put him out of Monday’s draw against Bray Wanderers and he’ll undergo a late fitness test.
Fingal manager Liam Buckley said: “It’s our third year in a row to be at this stage of the competition and we gave good account against Pat’s and Shamrock Rovers in our previous quarter-finals contests when we were a division below them.
“It’s a Dublin derby and is probably both teams’ last shot at silverware this season. We’ll be giving it our best to get through this tie and continue our strong record in the competition.
“All of the games between the top five in the Premier Division this season have been close and this one could be equally so. Richmond Park holds a lot of good memories for some of us in the Fingal camp and hopefully that continues."
For Saints, Gareth Coughlan and Paul Byrne are still on the long-term injury list, while Ryan Guy is struggling with a knee injury and is a doubt.
David McAllister is suspended and both Garreth O’Connor and Chris Bennion are cup-tied.
