The Republic of Ireland will face World Cup semi-finalists Uruguay in a friendly in March next year, it was confirmed today.

Giovanni Trapattoni’s side will play the South Americans at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on Tuesday, March 29, three days after the Republic take on Macedonia in a Euro 2012 qualifier at the same venue.
