Rooney return among 10 changes for Rangers clash
Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand return to the starting line-up for Manchester United as they host Rangers in tonight’s Champions League Group C opener at Old Trafford.
Rooney was left out of the match day squad for Saturday’s 3-3 draw at Everton in the Barclays Premier League just days after allegations about his private life.
Ferdinand – wearing the captain’s armband tonight – is also back in the side after recovering from injury as Alex Ferguson makes 10 changes from the weekend, with Darren Fletcher the only player to retain his place.
Kirk Broadfoot starts for Rangers after being passed fit and Steven Whittaker also makes the team, while Kenny Miller will play a lone striker role for the Scottish champions.
