Dennehy's streak continues

In-form winger Billy Dennehy scored for the third match running as Shamrock Rovers moved seven points clear at the top of the Premier Division table as they edge closer to a first title in 16 years.

A depleted Sligo were the better side in the first half, but Matt Blinkhorn and winger Eoin Doyle blew chances to give them the lead they would have merited at the interval.

But the Hoops were better on the resumption and got the only goal of the game came on 68 minutes when Dennehy shot a stunning free kick past Sligo keeper Ciaran Kelly.
