New Bhoy Stokes pens Celtic deal

Celtic have completed the signing of Anthony Stokes from Hibernian on a four-year deal.

The Republic of Ireland international becomes Celtic manager Neil Lennon’s 11th signing of the summer.

The 22-year-old striker, who has won three caps for his country, was top scorer for Hibs last season with 23 goals.

He will be presented at a press conference at Celtic Park later this afternoon.

Celtic have reportedly paid £1.2m (€1.45m) for the Dubliner.

Stokes joins his boyhood heroes at the second time of asking after rejecting a move in January 2007 in favour of Sunderland.

He first made his mark in Scottish football with Falkirk during the first half of the 2006/07 season, when he was on loan from Arsenal.

His move to the Stadium of Light, however, did not work out and the striker had further loan spells with Sheffield United and Crystal Palace before making a permanent move to Hibs last year where he teamed up with former Bairns boss John Hughes.
