Fulham cruise into third round
FT Fulham 6 Port Vale 0
Fulham enjoyed their own taste of a 6-0 victory as Mark Hughes’ men cruised past Port Vale and into the third round of the Carling Cup.
Chelsea, Newcastle and Arsenal all hit six in the Barclays Premier League at the weekend and Fulham took advantage of a gulf in class to get in on the act tonight.
Zoltan Gera and Bobby Zamora scored twice each under torrential rain at Craven Cottage and Fulham’s new £5m striker Moussa Dembele scored on his full debut for the club before his replacement Clint Dempsey slammed home the sixth.
Port Vale’s travelling supporters responded with “we only want one goal” and their side responded valiantly.
But Stockdale managed to block Richards’ shot at point-blank range and Fulham saw out a comfortable victory.
