Rabotnicki fined for crowd abuse

FK Rabotnicki have been fined €10,000 following the racist abuse Liverpool’s players faced during a Europa League match in Skopje last month.

UEFA’s control and disciplinary body imposed the punishment, citing the “discriminatory conduct of supporters” in the third qualifying round first-leg match on July 29.

Pictures emerged from Liverpool’s 2-0 over the Macedonian side of supporters directing monkey taunts towards the English side’s players.

Liverpool started the match at the Philip II Stadium with two black players in their side in David Ngog, who scored twice, and 19-year-old winger David Amoo.

A statement on www.uefa.com read: “The UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body has imposed a €10,000 fine on FK Rabotnicki for the discriminatory conduct of supporters during their UEFA Europa League third qualifying round first-leg match against Liverpool FC on 29 July in Skopje, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. The Rabotnicki case was dealt with by the Control and Disciplinary Body meeting in Nyon yesterday.”

The Reds also won the second leg 4-0.
