Valdez eager to leave Dortmund

Paraguay striker Nelson Valdez insists he will never play for Borussia Dortmund again and hopes to find a new club before the transfer deadline at the end of the month.

The 26-year-old failed to make an impression on Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp last season and now fears spending another 12 months on the bench.

“I have made up my mind to leave Dortmund and I hope to find a new club within the next fortnight,” he told the Bild newspaper.

“I am not officially part of the squad according to the coach Klopp and have not even been named in the squad for the cup game in Burghausen.

“Instead, I am going to follow an individual training regime with a fitness coach.

“Of course that hurts me, but what can I do? It just makes me want to sign for a new club as soon as possible.”

Valdez has already discussed terms with Spanish side Alicante, but their future in the Primera Division has not yet been confirmed.

Therefore, Valdez is keeping his options open and waiting for other offers to arrive.

“I am scared of arriving at a club who are then suddenly relegated. That would damage my personal career,” he added.

“New negotiations (with other clubs) should therefore commence.”
