Aiden McGeady has been given permission to miss the Republic of Ireland’s friendly against Argentina on Wednesday to finalise his future.

The Celtic winger is on the verge of a move to Spartak Moscow and Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni said: “We let him go and make what he must do.
