Davies: I was approached by Scotland
Bolton captain Kevin Davies has revealed he was approached last season about the possibility of playing for Scotland.
Davies, born in Sheffield, is yet to win a senior England cap despite being tipped for a call-up to the national squad throughout his time with Wanderers.
The 33-year-old striker was contacted towards the end of the 2009-10 campaign about representing Scotland instead, but Davies felt he had to turn the offer down.
āI spoke to someone about it at the end of last season,ā Davies told the Bolton News.
āThey wanted to know if I had any Scottish relatives and to be honest, I wasnāt too sure at the time, so I didnāt take it any further.
āYouād think with a name like Davies, Iām more likely to have Welsh blood in me.
āAs far as Iām concerned Iām English, so I didnāt really take it on.ā
