Bruce mulls Sol deal

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce today confirmed he has held talks with Sol Campbell but insisted the former England international is just one of his options as he bids to strengthen his defence over the summer.

Campbell is a free agent after leaving Arsenal at the end of last season and has been sounded out by Bruce, who also retains an interest in Schalke’s Heiko Westermann and Ghana international John Mensah.
