Duo missing for Bray
Bray Wanderers will be without Colm Tresson and Stephen Brennan for their clash with Sporting Fingal at the Carlisle Grounds tonight, kick-off 7.45pm.
The pair picked up calf injuries against Galway United on Monday and will miss out, while David Tyrrell and Richie Baker remain on the sidelines.
Shane O' Neill picked up an ankle injury but is expected to be fit and will face a late fitness test.
Wanderers boss Eddie Gormley said: "Friday’s game will be a tough one. They are a top side and a full-time outfit and it will be a big test for us, but our players are showing belief and will be anxious to keep our good run going. We can do it if we just get the bounce of the ball.”
Shane McFaul is out of for Sporting but it’s hoped he’ll shake off his hamstring problem in time for next week’s Europa League tie away to Portuguese side CS Marítimo.
Gary O’Neill is recovering well from his groin strain but unlikely to be risked at Bray, as is the case with defender Shaun Maher who is nursing a hip flexor injury.
New signing Colin Hawkins comes into the reckoning and may make his debut at the Carlisle Grounds.
“Shane and Gary certainly won’t be involved while it may be a little early for Shaun to make this one,” said Fingal manager Liam Buckley.
“We’ve got to be cautious about bringing back lads too early because it carries with a huge risk of escalating the problem.
“Colin Hawkins may feature. He’s looked sharp in training in the past week and just needs some matches under his belt having been sidelined for a long period with an injury.”
He added: “We’ve drawn the last two league matches and want to start winning games again. I think Eddie Gormley is beginning to get his relatively young Bray Wanderers side to gel and we’ll give them the respect they deserve.”
