Fabregas could face Germany

Cesc Fabregas could be fit to play in tomorrow’s World Cup semi-final match against Germany.

Arsenal’s Spanish midfielder had a scan after picking up a knock in training yesterday but has not been ruled out of tomorrow’s game.

The Spanish Football Federation said in a statement: “The tests have ruled out any type of bone injury so the player could be available to play against Germany. He has not been ruled out for the game tomorrow.”

There had been speculation that the 23-year-old would start the game after Spain improved dramatically in the quarter-final against Paraguay when he replaced Fernando Torres.

Spain managed 15 shots against Paraguay with 11 of these, and the four on-target efforts, coming in the 34 minutes after Fabregas came on.
