Shane O’Neill scored twice to put Bray through to a fourth round meeting at UCD, as Eddie Gormley’s 10-man Wanderers showed their mettle to come from behind against First Division leaders Derry.

Darren Cassidy brought a dour affair to life when ghosting in at the back post onto Vinny Sweeny’s flick to give Derry a 29th minute lead.

A rash push by 17-year-old Thomas McBride on Bray skipper Colm Tresson gave away a 42nd minute penalty which Jake Kelly emphatically dispatched to level the scores.

A mistake by Derry defender Emmet Friars gifted the ball to O’Neill on 53mins and he rifled Bray in front.

Bray had left-back Dane Massey sent off for kicking the ball away at a free-kick on 63mins, his second booking.

A stunning free-kick from Patrick McEleney then had Derry level on 75mins.

But virtually from the kick-off, Tresson got forward well to put O’Neill in on goal to shoot home the winner.

Bray meet UCD away in the fourth round on weekending August 29.
