Burley appointed Palace manager

Former Scotland boss George Burley is the new manager of Crystal Palace.

The 54-year-old returns to club football with the npower Championship side after being sacked as national head coach last November.

He succeeds Paul Hart, whose short-term contract expired after he memorably saved the Eagles from relegation on the final day of last season.

Former Palace striker Dougie Freedman stays on as assistant manager.
