Ferguson to consider Scotland return

Barry Ferguson is unlikely to make a decision on his Scotland future for several weeks after revealing he has yet to mull over a potential return to the national team.

The Birmingham midfielder, 32, was banished from international football following the infamous “Boozegate” affair under George Burley’s regime.

Current Scotland boss Craig Levein wants him back in the fold and held talks with the former Rangers captain back in March but Ferguson claims he is no closer to making a decision.

Speaking in the Sunday Herald, he said: “I have not given it any thought and the manager knows exactly where I am coming from.

“I told Craig that my priority was seeing out the season with total commitment to my club.

“I would then go away on holiday with my family and return for pre-season at the start of July. It was agreed that we would discuss things again before the start of the new campaign and that remains the case.

“I am aware a decision will have to be made. When that time comes, I‘ll make it.”
