Second-string Fulham go into the break ahead

Leighton Baines gifted a second-string Fulham side the only goal of a one-sided first-half dominated by Everton.

With Cottagers manager Roy Hodgson resting eight players ahead of the return leg of their Europa League semi-final with Hamburg on Thursday, Everton created and wasted a host of chances.

Then in the 36th minute a woeful back pass from Baines allowed Erik Nevland to score Fulham’s first away goal in the Barclays Premier League since a 3-2 defeat at Stoke on January 5.
