O’Neill bemoans overpopulated treatment table

Shamrock Rovers have several injury concerns ahead of their trip to face Drogheda United at Hunky Dorys Park for tonight’s Airtricity League Premier Division clash (kick-off 7.45pm).

Dessie Baker (broken arm), Pat Sullivan (knee), Craig Sives (hamstring) and Stephen Bradley (wrist) remain sidelined for Michael O’Neill’s Rovers.

Stephen Rice (ankle), Paddy Kavanagh (hamstring) and Ollie Cahill (ankle) are still suffering with injuries that may keep them out of the game.

“Of the three lads who came off against Bohs, two of them – Stephen Rice and Ollie Cahill – look very doubtful for the game,” said Hoops boss, Michael O’Neill.

“It won't be an easy one against Drogheda. I’ve seen them twice this year and I’m expecting a very tough game on the tight pitch.

“We won up there last year, so that’s a help for us, but they are also coming off the back of a good result last week – getting a win over St Pat’s. So we are certainly not taking anything for granted.”

Drogheda have no suspensions and no serious injury worries for the visit of the Hoops.

Robbie Martin and Brendan McGill have resumed full training and are expected to be fit for the game.

United boss Alan Mathews said: “We will be looking to keep up our good form from Inchicore (beating St Pat’s).

“I have no serious team issues going into the game, which is always good. Rovers got a good win last week and they are always going to be a tough prospect.”
