Duo missing for Rovers' Galway trip
Suspended duo Danny Murphy and James Chambers will be missing for Shamrock Rovers for their trip to face Galway United at Terryland Park, kick-off 7.35pm.
Rovers must also plan without Gary Twigg (calf) and Dessie Baker (broken arm) who remain sidelined through injury.
Hoops boss Michael O’Neill said: “We’re as we were for our last game against Dundalk, with Dessie and Gary both out for another few weeks, although Gary’s recovering well.
“Once again we also have a couple of suspensions but everyone else in the squad is fine and we’ve put in a very good week’s training ahead of the game against Galway.”
O’Neill added: “The priority for us is to get a win under our belts. We’ve had injuries and suspensions, but we’re not looking at that to make excuses. We’ve a strong squad here.
“We knows what’s required of us against Galway and we’ve prepared well during the week. It’s always tough in Terryland and we expect this game to be no different.”
Galway will have a near full-strength squad again this week with the only players missing being Anto Flood, who is serving a suspension, and Alan Murphy, who remains injured.
Manager Sean Connor remains positive ahead of the visit of the Hoops.
Connor said: “I’m delighted that we have a near full strength team to pick from this week.
“It’s essential that the locals get behind Galway United and show their support, for what will be one of our biggest home games this season.
“I’m expecting a fast paced challenging game on Friday but we are on our own soil, which can make the difference.”
The Terryland Park encounter is live on RTE Two.
