McGeady not looking to leave Celtic, says O'Dea
Darren O’Dea does not believe his Celtic team-mate Aiden McGeady is in any rush to leave Parkhead.
Former Hoops midfielder Barry Robson said last week the Republic of Ireland midfielder could be the next player to depart the club which has seen some drastic changes to its playing staff since Tony Mowbray took over from Gordon Strachan last summer.
However, ahead of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash with St Mirren in Paisley, where victory would reduce the gap behind SPL leaders Rangers to seven points, albeit the Ibrox men will have two games in hand, the Celtic defender said: “Aiden has been successful here but knowing him, he wants to be more successful.
“He wants to win here as much as anyone else and I don’t think he is thinking about anything else but doing that and whatever happens in the future will happen.
“He can only get better as he is still really young.”
Celtic’s 3-0 win over St Johnstone at the weekend saw the Parkhead club chalk up three clean sheets in a row for the first time in two years.
O’Dea, who has partnered 19-year-old Josh Thompson at the heart of the Celtic defence in recent games, admits it has been a long time coming.
“It is pleasing,” he said. “I don’t think we have done it enough this season but it is pleasing to do it now.
“It gives us great confidence.
“We have to build on it now and get a few more clean sheets under our belts.
“We seem to be more solid up front and in defence and it bodes well for the rest of the season.”
