Rangers strengthened their grip on pole position in the SPL with a 2-0 win over St Mirren as Celtic slipped up at home to Hibernian.

Midfielder Steven Davis netted in the opening two minutes for Gers before Nacho Novo marked his comeback from injury with a late strike to put the game beyond doubt.

The win - combined with Celtic's defeat - allowed Walter Smith's men to extend their lead at the summit to 10 points.

Substitute Danny Galbraith's dramatic stoppage-time winner gave Hibs a 2-1 victory over the Hoops at Parkhead.

Marc-Antoine Fortune headed Celtic into a fifth-minute lead from a Paul Caddis corner and the home side appeared to be in control.

However, in the 26th minute, Anthony Stokes found room inside the Hoops box to flick a header past Artur Boruc and in the dying seconds of a tense match Galbraith fired in a breakaway winner.

Elsewhere tonight, Fraser Fyvie became the youngest goalscorer in SPL history as Aberdeen romped to a 3-0 victory at toothless Hearts.

At 16 years and 10 months, Fyvie beat David Goodwillie's record by more than a month with what was his first professional goal.

The midfielder opened the scoring at Tynecastle before second-half efforts from Darren Mackie and Derek Young wrapped up an easy win which moved the Dons to within a point of their opponents in the SPL standings.

Dundee United's winning streak came to an end with a 3-3 draw against St Johnstone in an absorbing contest which saw the hosts claw their way back from a two-goal half-time deficit.

Peter MacDonald broke the deadlock after seven minutes before Liam Craig doubled the advantage with a cool finish after 21 minutes.

Jon Daly pulled a goal back for United seven minutes after the restart before Danny Swanson restored parity with a sublime volley from 25 yards.

United substitute Jennison Myrie-Williams sent the home crowd wild when his deflected shot found the back of the net after 72 minutes, but Kevin Moon completed the scoring a minute later to give Saints a share of the spoils.

Finally, Craig Brown marked his permanent appointment as Motherwell manager with a goalless draw at Falkirk, but he would no doubt have taken the point when Giles Coke was sent off in first-half stoppage time.
