Hull's Barmby suffers calf injury

Hull midfielder Nick Barmby was withdrawn at half time against Arsenal due to a calf problem, manager Phil Brown has confirmed.

Barmby was handed his first start since early October in the Barclays Premier League fixture at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

But the 35-year-old felt his calf tighten during the interval and was replaced by Seyi Olofinjana in a match the Tigers went on to lose 3-0.

“Nick Barmby’s calf tightened up a bit at half time, so we had to make a change,” Brown told www.hullcityafc.net.

“That change may have been a different kind of change had the score still been 0-0.

“But these are the decisions you have to make and Nick had to come off.”
