Larsson lands coaching role

Henrik Larsson was today appointed coach of Swedish second division side Landskrona Bois.

The 38-year-old former Celtic and Barcelona striker retired in October after finishing his career with home-town club Helsingborg.

“I am very flattered by this offer, given that I don’t have any bigger experience as a coach,” Larsson, who has signed a one-year contract, told a news conference.

“I look forward to it and we’ll see where I can take this.”

Larsson, who was capped 106 times by Sweden, won the Champions League with Barcelona in 2006.

He also won two Primera Division titles, four Scottish Premier League crowns and the Premier League following a loan spell at Manchester United in 2007.

Landskrona finished eighth in the 16-team Superettan last season.
