Nottingham Forest have agreed a deal to sign Nicky Shorey on loan from Aston Villa.

Nottingham Forest have agreed a deal to sign Nicky Shorey on loan from Aston Villa.

The left-back is set to link up with the Coca-Cola Championship club on Thursday and will remain at the City Ground until the end of December.

Shorey, who has two England caps, is expected to make his debut in Forest’s home game against Doncaster at the weekend.

The 28-year-old began his career with Leyton Orient but shot to prominence at Reading, making more than 300 appearances for the Berkshire club over seven years.

He joined Villa for an undisclosed fee in August 2008 but has struggled to hold down a first-team spot and has played just one match since August.
