Chelsea captain John Terry has defended Didier Drogba’s outburst following the Champions League semi-final with Barcelona and claimed the Ivorian’s behaviour illustrated his passion for the club.

Drogba was banned by UEFA after the striker confronted referee Tom Henning Ovrebo following Chelsea’s European exit earlier this year.

However, Blues skipper Terry revealed he “loved” Drogba’s behaviour which prompted disgust outside Stamford Bridge.

Terry said: “Didier loves this club and when we lose a game there is no-one more disappointed than him.

“He shows his anger and frustration.

“People look at when he lost his rag after the game against Barcelona – it’s because he cares about the club.

“From a Chelsea point of view, I love the way Didier reacted there.”
