King hoping for contract talks
Tottenham club captain Ledley King is hoping for talks about a fresh deal at White Hart Lane.
Spurs have an option for a one-year extension to the 29-year-oldās current contract, which runs out at the end of the season, and it looks increasingly likely to be triggered as King has learnt to manage his chronic knee condition and has played in six Barclays Premier League games so far in the campaign.
When asked if talks will start soon, the centre-back told Sky Sports News: āI hope so. It takes two and itās not just down to me.
āItās not something Iāve thought about too much. The first thing is staying fit and playing games and then when we sit down Iāll have my say.ā
Meanwhile, chairman Daniel Levy has described the appointment of Harry Redknapp as manager a year ago as his finest decision.
āMy only regret is that he wasnāt manager here a number of years ago,ā Levy told the Evening Standard.
āBased on how weāve progressed since heās been here, itās the boardās best football decision during my time as chairman. I always had high hopes that Harry would do a great job here.ā
Part of Redknappās regime is to encourage his squad to keep a low profile, although some of his players were pictured on a night out after the recent win over Portsmouth.
One of them, Peter Crouch told ZOO magazine: āHarryās had a big clampdown. Until we went out last week, we hadnāt had a night out since I arrived.
āI was well disappointed ā I moved to a London club and didnāt even get to go out. Not even for a bit of karaoke.ā
