Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe is suspended for the Carling Cup clash with Everton at White Hart Lane.

Aaron Lennon (ankle), Jonathan Woodgate (head), Ledley King (illness), Giovani dos Santos (ankle) and Luka Modric (fractured leg) also miss out.

Croatia midfielder Niko Kranjcar is cup-tied after playing for Portsmouth in the competition earlier this season.
