Benitez hails Reds performance

Rafael Benitez hailed the character and quality of his Liverpool side after they ended a run of four defeats in the sweetest way possible by defeating bitter rivals Manchester United 2-0 at Anfield.

The Reds boss’ future was the subject of speculation prior to kick-off with the club on their worst run of results since 1987, but second-half goals from Fernando Torres and David Ngog won it for them against the Barclays Premier League champions.
