FAI to meet Cork City fans
The FAI is to meet with supporters of Cork City today to discuss the prospect of the Rebels obtaining a League of Ireland license for next season.
League of Ireland Director Fran Gavin, FAI Internal Compliance Officer Padraig Smith, and Noel Mooney of the FAI will sit down formally with representatives of Foras, the independent Cork City Supporter’s Trust.
City have narrowly avoided a winding-up order in the High Court this season and have struggled to pay their players on many occasions.
They will discuss the Trust’s concerns with respect to the League of Ireland license for Cork City Football Club for next year among other concerns.
Fans of the club have staged protests against the way chairman Tom Coughlan runs the club while the team have planned strike action due to the chairman's inability to pay their wages.
