Former Ireland player appointed Wycombe boss

Wycombe have today confirmed the appointment of former Republic of Ireland international Gary Waddock as their new manager.

Waddock, 47, announced his departure from League Two side Aldershot yesterday evening, paving the way for him to replace Peter Taylor at Wycombe.

Waddock had been in charge at Aldershot since May 2007, guiding the club to promotion to the Football League in his first season in charge.

Prior to Aldershot he had been manager at QPR, for whom he made more than 200 appearances during his playing career.

Taylor parted company with Wycombe just five months after guiding them to promotion back to League One.

Waddock, who takes assistant Martin Kuhl with him to Adams Park, inherits a squad currently lying one point and one place off the bottom of the table.
