Substitute Mark Farren scored twice to bring his tally of goals against Drogheda this season to six as third-placed Derry maintained their push for Europe.

Striker Farren opened the scoring on 75 minutes, pouncing on Conor Kenna’s weak back header to shoot past Steve Williams.

Drogheda hit back within four minutes, though, when Jamie Duffy latched onto Robbie Farrell’s clever pass to fire past Ger Doherty.

Derry went back in front on 82 minutes when Tam McManus rifled a shot to the net despite Williams getting a hand to the ball.

Farren then sealed Derry’s win on 94 minutes with another calm finish for his second goal of the night.
