Villa manager Martin O'Neill gave debuts to three defenders - Richard Dunne, James Collins and Stephen Warnock.

The visitors kept faith with Gabriel Agbonlahor and Ashley Young in attack with England striker Emile Heskey on the bench after suffering from a tight hamstring.
