Gareth O’Connor scored a stunning winner to send St. Pat’s off to Russia today for Thursday's Europa League return with Krylya Sovetov with a vital three points.

Dundalk wasted a glorious chance to take the lead 30 seconds in through Alex Williams’ feeble effort, having been played in on goal by Chris Turner it was easily saved by Saints’ keeper Gary Rogers.

Saints’ Glen Fitzpatrick was as wasteful at the other end on 28 minutes when blazing over the bar.

A poor second half finally came to life on 74 minutes when O’Connor struck for its much needed goal.

Bobby Ryan’s diagonal ball from the left ran into the midfielder’s path and he beat Peter Cherrie with a superbly hit, rising right foot drive.
